Keith Junior High School Vintage Serving Counter

I’m inside the old kitchen here at Keith Junior High School as we continue preparing the building for renovations and updates.

What I have behind me is a real relic of the building’s history. I’m not even completely sure of its exact purpose, but it appears to be some kind of large food preparation or processing table from when the kitchen was in full use.

Above it, there are heavy hooks mounted into the structure, which suggests this area may have been used for hanging and storing food items or ingredients during meal prep. It’s easy to imagine this space once being busy with cafeteria staff preparing meals for the school.

The equipment itself is industrial and built to last—clearly designed for heavy daily use during the school’s original operation. Even though it’s no longer in service, it still gives a strong sense of what the kitchen would have been like when it was active.

It’s the kind of place that makes you wonder about all the people who worked here and the meals that were prepared in this very room.

If anyone remembers what this setup was used for, I’d love to hear from you—any history or stories would be great to learn.
