Restoring Keith JRHS Windows

One of the most exciting parts of renovating a historic building is uncovering the details that made it special in the first place.

Over the years, Keith Junior High School went through several renovations and updates, many of them designed to improve functionality and energy efficiency. At some point in the building’s history, the original massive windows were partially closed in — a practical decision at the time when single-pane glass made heating and cooling much more difficult.

But behind those renovations, the original vision of the building still remains.

These incredible window openings measure roughly 8 feet tall by 12 feet wide and once extended nearly floor-to-ceiling throughout the building. They brought natural light into the classrooms and gave the spaces an open, expansive feel that was rare for a school of its era.

Now, thanks to modern high-efficiency window technology, we have the opportunity to bring those original openings back to life while still maintaining excellent energy performance.

As part of the redevelopment, each apartment will feature at least one of these oversized windows, creating living spaces filled with natural light and incredible views. It’s easy to imagine sitting in your living room with a morning cup of coffee while sunlight pours through an entire wall of glass above you.

Moments like that are what make this project so exciting.

The goal has never been simply to renovate an old building — it’s to preserve the character and history that made Keith Junior High School unique while creating modern living spaces that feel truly special.

These restored windows are just one example of the many details being carefully reimagined to make these some of the most distinctive apartments in the area.
