Chris Widley here at Keith Junior High School. We’re in the community room.
Now, when I first toured this building, I found this incredible safe here. I asked the people giving me the tour, “What’s in there?”
And they said, “We don’t know. We haven’t been inside since the building was renovated.” If you want to come in closer, you can see what this safe looks like.
There was this tiny little keyhole here, but I couldn’t find any keys that matched it. The door was locked tight.
Then one morning around 7:00 a.m., I was looking around the building and found this key.
I swear it was like Excalibur — the light came down on it, and I immediately knew what it was for.
I ran up here early in the morning. Nobody else was working in the building at the time. I put the key into the door, turned it… and boom.
For the first time in probably 15 or 16 years, the safe opened.
And this is what I found inside:
All the plans and documents from the incredible developer Chris Copac — so much of his life’s work stored right here.
Original blueprints. Old development plans. Entire walls filled with documents. Just unbelievably cool.
One of the many hidden nooks and crannies here at Keith Junior High School.
