Abandoned School at Keith Jr High School

I’m here at the top of the balcony inside the Keith Junior High School auditorium, and the elevation up here is absolutely insane. When you look out over the auditorium, you really realize just how massive this space is.

But the coolest part is what’s hidden behind these doors.

Tucked away up here is what appears to be the original projection system for the auditorium — and it is unbelievably well preserved.

Take a look around this room and you can see just how incredible this piece of history really is. The projector itself is still sitting in place, and from what we can tell, it’s in remarkable condition.

What’s especially fascinating is how the image would project through a tiny opening in the wall — probably only about 4 by 6 inches — all the way down onto the screen below. It’s amazing to think that something so small could fill an entire auditorium screen.

We’re not exactly sure when this system was last used, how it operated, or even what it originally ran on, so maybe someone out there knows more about it. If you recognize this equipment or know anything about vintage auditorium projection systems, let us know.

Just another incredibly cool hidden piece of history here at Keith Junior High School.
