When it comes to renovating rental properties, it can be hard to know where to spend your money. There are always improvements you could make, but not every upgrade gives you the same return.
One thing we’ve learned over the years at Redwood Prime Realty is that sometimes the simplest improvements can make the biggest difference.
Two of the best places to start? Paint and lighting.
Take the entrance at Keith Junior High School. This space used to feel dark and gloomy, so we started looking at ways to brighten it up without completely redoing the space.
We added a few more can lights and changed out some of the light bulbs in the existing fixtures. Some of those fixtures were actually taken from the auditorium and repurposed in the entrance.
The difference was incredible.
A space that once felt dark now feels brighter, cleaner and much more inviting. And we were able to make a noticeable transformation without spending a fortune.
Start With the Basics
If you’re a rental property owner and you only have so much money available for improvements, take a look at your lighting and paint before jumping into a major renovation.
Fresh paint can completely change how a space feels, while better lighting can make a room look larger, cleaner and more welcoming.
